Jesus, the Son of God and our Rescuer, came to earth as a real baby. He slept. He cried. He had dirty diapers. He was fully human. These verses tell us that He made Himself like us.  Watch this video to learn more about that.

Jesus was fully God and fully human. Why did God send Jesus this way? Remember, He was coming to rescue us from our sins. Sin is a human problem. God doesn't sin. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin (what we deserve for sin) is death. The payment for sin was for someone to die. Since sin is a human problem, a human had to take the punishment for our sin. Instead of letting us die for our sin, Jesus came as a real human to be our Rescuer.

You know what else is really cool? Because Jesus was fully human, He gets us. He understands the things we go through. Read Hebrews 4:15-16, "We have a high priest who can feel it when we are weak and hurting. We have a high priest who has been tempted in every way, just as we are. But he did not sin. So let us boldly approach God’s throne of grace. Then we will receive mercy. We will find grace to help us when we need it."

Do: Make your own comic strip showing what you think Jesus was like as a fully human child. Remember, He never sinned, but otherwise He was a typical kid. You can make it on paper or online.

Pray: What is something going on in your life that you are so grateful that Jesus understands. Let everyone pray silently or aloud saying, "Thank you, Jesus, that you understand what I'm going through and that you understand ______."
